I’ve dated every sign of the zodiac, and I’ve got some news: the stereotypical zodiac traits are true. Aries are pursuers, Virgos are kind, and Pisces need their freedom. As a professional astrologer, I hate to admit it because there is more to a person’s birth chart and personality than their Sun Sign. Still, while every Aquarius has a different personality, they tend to handle conflict the same way. Same goes for Sagittarius.
If you’re pursuing a crush this Valentine’s Day, or if you’re cozy in a relationship, it’s worth looking a little more into your boo’s zodiac traits to deepen your connection. Take it from my personal experience!

Aries
Aries are known to be super attentive to the person they are pursuing. They won’t give up until they dazzle their crush, And, let’s just say this generalization is real. I’ve dated many Aries and each time I open my heart to one, they bombard me with affection to get my attention and then start to get distant when it gets real. But when you have an Aries on the hook, the passion is red hot 24/7 and they can make a person feel alive. The only downfall is that when the fire burns out, they move onto the next relationship before you can even unfollow them on IG.
Taurus
The longest relationship I’ve had in my life has been with a Taurus. And, my first relationship was with another Bull. Known to be stubborn, loyal, sensual, sweet, and romantic, Tauruses give their all to love — and I’ve definitely found that to be true. They are low key Casanovas. One Taurus I dated wouldn’t budge on their rigid ways, while the other evolved at their own pace. The lesson I learned is that you can’t rush a Bull. Take it slow. The relationship will be worth the wait. Love takes time. They’ll prove to be the biggest romancers of your life.\
Gemini
As a Gemini myself, dating another set of twins was exhausting. They live in a world of contradictions and you never know who or what to expect. Basically, it was like dating myself. For me, having a relationship with two other people (four people, if you include my Gemini Sun), proved exhausting. However, it was loads of fun. Even after the relationship ended, we remained friends because a Gemini will always keep things light even when it’s over. We checked in with each other and sent birthday messages on social media for years after we dated.\
Cancer
Cancers are very sensitive beings. When I dated a Cancer, we would talk for hours about our feelings. The caveat is that they were in another situationship at the time, which I didn’t know about. Cancers can be secretive as a way to protect themselves. Also, crabs expose themselves and come out at night. Years later, I still get the occasional text declaring that they miss me and want to catch up (even though they are currently in a relationship). After I get the courage to respond, they leave me on read until they feel like casually texting three months later.
Leo
I met the coolest Leo of all time at a New Year’s Eve party. They’re charmers who love attention, know what they want, and won’t quit until they get praise from their conquests. Just like you would think, they totally put on a song and dance to win my heart by reciting poetry in an old-timey English accent (which totally made me swoon). They immediately followed me on IG and let their presence be known by commenting and liking all of my posts. The chemistry ended when they found someone else to impress.
Virgo
My Virgo bestie crushed on me for years. During that time, we were both dating other people. Finally, they made their move by inviting me out for a chill late-night dinner when we were both single. I grew fond of them. Being the super forgiving peeps that they are, texts from their former boos were always popping up on their phones. I’d get resentful, envious, and insecure because they still talked to them. In true Virgo form, they would shrug off my jealousies — which made my blood boil. Over time, their patience ran out (a typical Virgo sentiment).\
Libra
Libras tend to partner up fast when they decide that they like someone, and that’s exactly what happened with my roommate-turned-SO. Although they can be decisive when it comes to finding love, they aren’t straight forward when breaking up with their partner. They weren’t direct with me. My former Libra boo used the last days of our relationship to set up a whole new life for themselves (from their home to job to haircut and clothes to relationship with someone else). They continued to update me for years, until they were in a committed relationship with another person.
Scorpio
Scorpios are known for their intense and passionate sentiments, which means that they can be a little controlling at times. Being the carefree air sign that I am, it was hard to relate to their brooding desirous nature. However, we did share many laughs because I can appreciate their dark and offbeat sense of humor. TBH, we did totally connect as friends because Scorpios are ride-or-die kind of people. They will never abandon anyone. I know I can call them if I’m in a jam, need to vent, or talk because a Scorpio’s love is anything but conditional.
Sagittarius
To be real, I didn’t get super deep or attached when I dated a Sagittarius. Looking back, they probably liked that I kept it light. Mostly because they are the free spirits of the zodiac and some are commitment-phobes. Also, Sags are very blunt (this means that their words can hurt and sting at times). I was confronted a lot for being moody (not in a gentle kind of way), which bated me into arguing with them. Fighting is a turn-on for Sags, which is why I now regret taking the bait.
Capricorn
I dated a Capricorn for almost a year. The relationship was great until things got hard. In true sea-goat fashion, they tried to work on making our relationship better. However, their effort didn’t help us sustain our partnership because I didn’t vibe with their unwavering loyalty to friends who’d hurt them and their tendency to live in the past. Also, they put in long hours bartending while going to school during the day. So, needless to say, their grueling schedule didn’t include date nights all around town with their SO.\
Aquarius
I fell hard for my Aquarius ex. We connected over art, music, and TV shows. They were hot and cold, as well as indecisive. All of this was the case until they ghosted me and moved on. Was I surprised? Yes. Was I confused and longing for closure? Yes, again. They were my first big heartbreak. Aquarians aren’t ones to be straightforward and they cast you out of their orb when they’re ready to move on. They are known to be ghosters, which they do in an effort to rid themselves of the messiness associated with ending a relationship.
Pisces
My second big heartbreak was by a Pisces. I was totally into their creativity, emotional maturity, and lyrical soul. They were a musician and a photographer who made money through their art, which was very inspiring to me. I fell hard for their sensitive mind and kind heart. They swam away to pursue their professional dreams in another country. I had to let them go and be free. After all, no one can control a person who lives without borders in the sea. I didn’t want to keep them in a fishbowl. I let them go to pursue their visions.
